The reduction of photoluminescence of SU-8 upon surface modification is reported.

Micropillar structuring of SU-8 surface results in an increased photoluminescence reduction rate (10% glass, 15% silicon).

Photoluminescence reduction rate can be a transduction parameter for the detection of antibody-antigen binding events.

The proposed sensing mechanism can be used to quantify small concentrations of antibody.

Lower limit of detection (LOD) of 28 μg/ml on silicon substrates and 42 μg/ml on glass substrates was achieved.
