The prevalence of MDE in adolescents has not changed over the past 15 years. An increase in reported diagnosis of mood disorders was observed from 2003 to 2014. Current strategies have not been effective at reducing MDE prevalence. Need for mental health services may increase with the rise in reported diagnoses.
