We analyzed by proteomics a human formalin fixed and paraffin embedded liver tissue with Echinococcus granulosus. We used a laser microdissection-based workflow and imaging mass spectrometry. The comparison of different regions of interest revealed different biological processes. The work shows the potential of mass spectrometry to investigate parasitic infections.
