hM4Di was expressed in BNST-VTA cells via a retrograde intersectional viral approach. hM4Di-mediated inhibition of BNST-VTA cells blocked ethanol CPP expression. Control GFP expression and CNO alone did not affect ethanol CPP expression. Findings indicate BNST-VTA cells regulate the expression of ethanol-cue seeking.
