Potential interaction between NO, CO and H2S, was evaluated in pancreatic β cells.

One of NO, CO and H2S could reciprocally produce other two gases.

NO–, CO– and H2S-producing enzymes were expressed in β cells.

NO, CO and H2S induced intracellular Ca2+ increase in a dose-dependent manner.

NO stimulated and CO inhibited basal insulin release but H2S had no effect.
