Mechanical hill direct-seeded rice synchronous with deep placement of N fertilizer (MHDSR-NF) enhanced nitrogen use efficiency, grain yield and yield components of hill direct-seeded rice. MHDSR-NF improved leaf area index, photosynthesis rate and dry biomass of rice. In addition, it also can promote the activities of catalases and peroxidases significantly. MHDSR-NF proved economically profitable with higher benefit-cost ratio, which can be employed successfully in rice production systems.
