Advanced 1D and 2D structural theories based on Legendre polynomial expansions are discussed. The unified formulation of theories of structures and variational principles are employed. The finite element arrays of arbitrarily refined elements are written in a general, compact form. The present finite elements allow analysts to refine the structural in a straightforward manner. A number of benchmark results are given.
