Typha × glauca invasion increased CH4 emissions from experimental mesocosms. Typha-invaded field soils had greater CH4 production potential than native soils. Biomass production, soil C, and N were positively correlated with CH4 emissions. Large scale invasion by productive macrophytes could alter regional CH4 fluxes.
