We employed deterministic tractography to detect altered crossing fibers in the fornix, the cingulum, the anterior thalamic radiation and the corpus callosum BD and SZ patients.

We showed lower FA and Le in the left and right fornices in patients with BD and SZ.

Widespread fiber tracking scores differences in SZ compared with controls.

Associations between cognitive and sociodemographic variables and microstructural integrity in the fornix.

Findings support current pathophysiological models, indicating abnormal fronto-limbic connections.
