Y2O3 suspension fragmentation in Axial III plasma spray system with axial feeding has been studied. The suspension fragmentation was so severe that most splats came from the individual Y2O3 particles. Based on a few assumptions, we report that the typical size of the liquid droplet after fragmentation was around 2 μm, which is below the detection limit of usual techniques.
