Yet unknown AOB were identified in activated sludge by next generation sequencer. Morphological properties of genus Nitrosomonas had some correlation with the phylogenetic classification. AOB microcolonies were sorted by scattering signatures without enrichment. Short time incubation from microcolonies led to isolate novel pure strains of AOB.
