This paper carries out the integration of a space-time block code (STBC) technique into a chaos shift keying (CSK) system. To that end, an Alamouti space-time code scheme is combined with the CSK system for two transmit and two receiver antennas. Our proposed scheme is a simple configuration that combines the advantages of STBC and chaotic modulation. Because the chaotic signals have a low cross-correlation, the Alamouti-CSK scheme can suppress the inter-transmit-antenna interference, recover the transmitted symbols and achieve the full diversity gain, all in outstanding fashion. Once the design of Alamouti-CSK system is presented, the performance of the proposed system is analyzed under a slow fading channel. A computation approach of the bit error rate (BER) expression based on the probability density function of the bit energy of the chaotic sequence is presented. Simulation results prove the accuracy of our BER computation methodology.
