Polisher density into Preston equation

文摘
For the polishing process, Preston (1927) proposed wear, m>hm>, is proportional to the work given by a frictional force, m>fm>fr, on the glass. He assumed m>fm>fr does not depend on relative velocity, m>vm>, between the glass and the tool. T¨¦llez et al. (2007) found frictional force depends on m>vm>. We have experimentally found that m>fm>dr depends on relative velocity, m>vm>, and concentration, m>¦Ñm>, of the polisher suspension. Then Preston equation has to be modified i.e. m>hm> = m>hm>(m>fm>fr(m>vm>), m>¦Ñm>)m>.m>
