A method to characterise a rotary valve is proposed. A complete GMPTC simulation model is built and verified. The model can predict the GMPTC’s performance at various working conditions. The exergy loss distribution of the GMPTC system is presented quantitatively. The proposed simulation method is useful to optimise a GMPTC system.
