The response of sandy beach meiofauna to nutrients from sea turtle eggs

文摘
Turtles serve as vectors of organic matter from sea to land via eggs laid on beaches. Meiofauna response to resource pulses is tested with sampling and an in situ experiment. There is a strong temporal variation of meiofauna in response to turtle eggs. Meiofauna taxa responded in succession, but communities were dominated by nematodes. Nematodes reached maximum abundance after 7 days, and declined thereafter.
