Sodium hexametaphosphate (NaHMP) can adsorb on kaolinite Alsingle bondOH terminated (001) surface easily.

The oxygen atoms of hexametaphosphate form strong hydrogen bonds with the hydrogen atoms of kaolinite Alsingle bondOH surface.

The electrostatic force is the main interaction between NaHMP and Alsingle bondOH surface.

The linear hexaphosphate −[PO3]m− chains adsorb stably than −[HPO3]m− chains.
