A new kind of HMPs based on DDSQ was prepared through Friedel-Crafts reaction.

The produced HMPs possess a maximum BET surface area of 923 m2 g−1.

TGA curves demonstrate that the HMPs had a very high thermal stability.

The HPMs have a high gas storage capacity for CO2 and H2.
