Disproportionation start at higher temperature than hydrogenation, hard to complete. Excessive pressure had opposite effect on hydrogenation and grain refinement. The nanocrystallization occurred in the whole process, remarkably in dehydrogenation. MgH2(110) and (101) crystal planes are preferred orientation in hydrogenation. A plate model was suggested for the grain refinement mechanism relies craking.
