Three extraction methods were compared for extracting polysaccharides from C. violaceum.

Primary structures of CVPs obtained by different extraction methods were indentified.

The molecular weight distributions and sugar compositions of CVPs were evaluated.

CVPs-M possessed the highest extraction yield and the strongest antioxidant activities.

Microwave-assisted extraction was an appropriate and effective method for CVPs.
