Ochratoxin A contamination in the roasted coffee was assessed by HPLC-FD. Differences between arabica and robusta OTA levels was detected. Low incidence of OTA in Portuguese market samples, but 18% exceed EU limits. Monitoring and evaluation of OTA levels in the roasted coffee should be advisable.
