Gold nanoparticles decorated mesoporous silica microspheres (Au-MSM) are synthesized.

Au-MSM electrocatalytically oxidizes hydrazine and reduces nitrobenzene.

The kinetic parameters are determined using chronoamperometric studies.

Hydrazine and nitrobenzene in real water samples are satisfactorily determined using GC/Au-MSM.
