Using RNA-seq we assembled and annotated the transcriptome of northern leopard frogs. Open reading frames were comparable in number and extent to genes in Xenopus. Transcript changes between early and late stage tadpoles were highest in tail tissue. Immunity genes were up-regulated in both the head and tails of late stage tadpoles. Both mitochondria and myosin related genes were down-regulated in late tadpoles.
