An experiment tested emotional and cognitive reactions to online health information seeking activity. The experiment also tested how tailoring search engine results to users' emotional states might impacts outcomes. Results reveal that different emotional reactions to searchers predict different post-search cognitions and behaviors. Implications for search engine design and computer-based health communication are discussed.
