Impact fracture behaviour of iron ore pellets at different strain rates is studied. Dynamic testing and numerical modelling are used. The dynamic fracture stress is about 30% higher than quasi static measurements. A strain rate dependent fracture model for iron ore pellets is developed. The model and the experiment show similar results.
