The occurrence of Diarrheagenic E. coli strains in raw kibbe samples was assessed.
Only two STEC strains were found (O125:H19 and O149:H8 serotypes).
Both strains had the lpfO113 and stx1c genes and one had the EAST-1 toxin.
The two strains showed an ability to adhere to epithelial cells cultured in vitro.
The two STEC serotypes isolated were probably described for the first time in foods.
