Lanthanide complexes with hydrogen bond donor sites were prepared for anion sensing. Eu(III) based complexes displayed red emission at 616 nm and complex [Eu(pdcam)2(trzc)]Cl3 exhibited maximum lifetime values of 1.31 ms and quantum efficiency of 48.83%. The photoluminescence emission of the complexes was completely quenched upon addition of 4 equivalents of F− ions.
