White matter tract recovery following medial temporal lobectomy and selective amygdalohippocampectomy for tumor resection via a ROVOT-m port-guided technique: A case report and review of literature
The first reported medial temporal lobectomy and selective amygdalohippocampectomy using volumetric 3D white matter planning and rendering software; Robotically Operated Video Optical Telescopic-microscope (ROVOT-m) combined with a port is reported. Trajectory-centric planning with MR-DTI optimizes not only the preservation but actual recovery of white matter tract fibers. Application of this 3D white matter planning system can facilitate the resection of deep-seated tissue. Pre- and post-operative DTI shows recovery of key white matter tracts in this case utilizing a transculcal radial corridor. Superior optical visualization is provided with ROVOT-m for tissue differentiation through small corridors.
