This study examines the retrofit of NGCCs with an amine-based CO2 capture system. Three Italian NGCCs with different rated power and layout complexity are analyzed. Several options to meet the heat and electricity needs of CCS system are compared. The integration of an auxiliary CHP unit eliminates the plant capacity derating. The auxiliary unit improves energy and economic performances of retrofitted NGCCs.
