Misch metal (Mm) addition in Mg-5%Sn alloy reduces the grain size (∼30%). Mm addition in Mg-5%Sn alloy increases both YS and UTS 16–25% and 19–20% respectively. Complete dissolution of Mg2Sn occurs after solution heat treatment at 520 °C for 48–72 h. Al-Sc master alloy addition in the Mg-8%Sn alloy reduces the grain size (∼12%). TAS831 alloy exhibits superior tensile properties compared to other investigated Mg-Sn alloys.
