We researched social and cultural motives for decision about establishment and use of lawns within Lawn Project. Questionnaire surveys, semi-structured interviews and observational studies in multifamily residential areas in Uppsala, Malmö and Göteborg. Estimation of the lawn cover and the links to people’s perception and use of lawns. Lawns are valued as important places for different outdoor activities. Opportunities for creating alternative biodiverse and cost effective lawns.
