MCPyV and TSPyV encode small tumor (sT) antigens, which differentially regulate cell proliferation pathways.

Cellular expression of TSPyV sT markedly enhanced pRb phosphorylation and inactivation.

In contrast, MCPyV sT did not alter pRb phosphorylation status.

TSPyV-mediated pRb deactivation may play an important role in TS development.
