Compilations of microstructural data suggest that the DSZ formed under amphibolite grade conditions, likely between 500-600 °C. Microstructures and field/petrographic observations suggest transpression in the NCGB (horizontal shortening and shearing components). Although vertical movement could be suspected (dome and keel geometry), linear fabrics and dominant dextral kinematics in shear zones indicate otherwise. Deformation zones in the NCGB were formed under amphibolite grade conditions in a transpressional setting.
