Exposure to PM10 is associated with genetic damage and DNA methylation in children. Hypermethylation of DNA-repair genes can contribute to DNA damage. Benzo[b]fluoranthene content in PM10 resulted in an increase in LINE1 methylation. Methylation of DNA repair genes was increased by PAHs and metals adsorbed in PM10. Methylation of PARP1 promoter was correlated with an increased oxidative DNA damage.
