Differential effects of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, methamphetamine, meta-Chlorophenylpiperazine, and scopolamine on behavioral repetition versus variation in rats

Drugs might cause variability, repetition, or impair stimulus control. Rats' lever pressing was reinforced on a Vary/Repeat multiple schedule. MDMA and METH primarily increased variability when repetition was required. M-CPP and scopolamine produced differential patterns of effect. The reinforced variability paradigm is sensitive to pharmacological manipulations.
