Prenatal stress in the third – but not second – trimester leads to qualitative changes in courtship vocalizations in male offspring as adults. Bone mineral density is reduced in prenatally stressed males and closely correlated with their courtship vocalizations. Prenatal stress in the third trimester leads to elevated basal corticosterone levels in adult Gr+/− but not in wildtype males.
