A posteriori error analysis of a fully-mixed formulation for the Navier-Stokes/Darcy coupled problem with nonlinear viscosity

A new mixed finite element method for the coupling of the Navier–Stokes and Darcy equations is considered. Nonlinear viscosity is allowed in the fluid. An augmented fully-mixed variational formulation relaxing the usual hypotheses on the finite element subspaces is employed. The finite element subspaces are the cheapest ones, in particular Raviart–Thomas of order 0 for the stress. A reliable and efficient residual-based a posteriori error estimate is derived.
