Irritability (IR) is linked to internalizing symptoms (IS) of depression/anxiety. Emotion regulation (ER) contributes to the emergence of depression/anxiety. ER is a mediating factor between IR and IS. This mediating factor provides a possible target for therapeutic intervention.
