Monazite flotation was depressed in the presence of calcite. Lower dosages of Ca(OH)+ competed with hydroxamic acid for P-OH sites. Higher dosages of Ca(OH)+ served as active sites on monazite surfaces. Hydration of Ca(OH)+ decreased monazite surfaces’ hydrophobicity.
