Ti-MSNs were successfully prepared via two green technologies. Oxygen vacancy (Vo) and metal defect sites lowered the band gap of Ti-MSN catalysts. SiOTi bonds, Vo and defect sites played vital roles in the enhanced photoactivity. Large surface area and pore volume are the key factors in high activity of Ti-MSN-M. Ti-MSN-M and Ti-MSN-I demonstrated low-energy consumption.
