Experimental mechanical compaction of reconstituted shale and mudstone aggregates: Investigation of petrophysical and acoustic properties of SW Barents Sea cap rock sequences
Reconstituted shale and mudstone aggregates were mechanically compacted. Notable porosity and velocity variations were found during burial. Collected aggregates from Goliat well are compacted more compared to Salina well. Experimental curves are in agreement with well logs in mechanical compaction domain. A technique is proposed for exhumation estimation using reconstituted aggregates.
