A 2D model is developed to analyze transport phenomena in the Midrex shaft furnace. Unreacted shrinking core model is implemented to simulate gas–solid reactions. Overall reduction degree increases by applying twin gas injection system. Energy consumption decreases by applying twin gas injection system.
