A new methodology was used to assess the impact of geogenic origin Cr(VI) uptake by carrots. The impact of carbon in the mobility and uptake of Cr by carrots was assessed. Endophytic bacteria isolated from the carrots reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III). A site-specific risk evaluation was conducted for health adverse effects. Risk assessment suggested no adverse human health effects due to carrot consumption.
