Short unpleasant high arousal film clips increase respiratory resistance. Respiratory resistance increased both in asthma and control participants. Arousal and lack of control correlated with increased respiratory resistance. Respiratory resistance quickly recovered after stimulation. No habituation or sensitization of airway responses was observed.
