The role of induced PGE2 in IL-1β evoked anorexia is strain dependent. Mice on a DBA/1 background with deletion of mPGES-1 show attenuated anorexia. C57BL/6 mice with deletion of mPGES-1 or EP receptors display normal anorexia. In the most used mouse strain, C57BL/6, PGE2 is not mediating inflammatory induced anorexia.
