The first occurrence of OsHV-1 associated mortality in TAS, Australia is described. High mortality was observed, oysters size was the most important associated factor. The association manually handling oysters and greater mortality is highlighted. Oyster ploidy and hatchery of origin were not associated with differential mortality.
