An active fusion protein consisting of hydrophobin HGFI and pediocin PA-1 was successfully expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The fusion protein PA-1-HGFI could well preserved the self-assembly property of HGFI and antibacterial activity of PA-1. This fusion protein PA-1-HGFI represents a facile, multifunctional and safe technique for antibacterial surface modification.
