Foraminifera and radiolarians have been investigated from the same Cenomanian–Campanian samples of the Crimea–Caucasus region.
The first crisis coincides with the Cenomanian–Turonian boundary event, connected to the sea level rise, warm greenhouse and OAE 2.
The diversification is related to a sea-level highstand and hot greenhouse climatic environment.
The wider distribution of the family Prunobrachidae reflects the beginning of cooling greenhouse episode.
