Comparison of mesh-based and mesh-less CFD coupling with a DEM is presented. A smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method represents particle-based CFD. Particle movements in both DEM-FVM and DEM-SPH methods are discussed. Differences are caused mostly by differences in the fluid fraction.
