A bis(pirazolyl)methane L, with alkyne substituents in C-4 of the pyrazole, has been synthesized. Two square planar Pd(II) complexes have been prepared and characterized. The [(L)PdCl2] molecules form dimers associated through π–π stacking interactions. The Pd(II) complexes are cytotoxic in vitro against HeLa, SHSY-5Y and K562 human cancer cell lines.
