PAC@Fe3O4 was synthesized, characterized and employed as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst. The catalyst activities followed the descending order of PAC@Fe3O4/O3 > PAC/O3 > Fe3O4/O3 > O3 upon the COD removal. Under optimum conditions, the biodegradability of PCW was noticeably improved. PAC@Fe3O4 was preserved effectively even after five cycles of use owing to its good stability.
